Dawn of the Dead

What themes or issues do you see emerging from the movie so far? What do you think the movie is saying about consumerism? What about quality of life?

  1. people are naturally greedy and like to have more than what they need. the pregnant lady is wanting to learn how to fly the helicopter incase something happens to the pilot guy which shows her desire for independence and equal rights, the pilot guy dosent want to teach her because she is a woman. the zombies are at the mall because spending is all they remember from their previous lives.

  2. Women Now A Days Have More Rights Then Men And The People At The Mall Were Like Kind oF Materialistic, They Were Just Buying Stuff Just To Buy It... IDK Really..

  3. The quality of life during the 1970's in which the film was released, related to womens rights of speech. Women were generally more open mnded to social work other than just being a house wife as they were previously. American consumerism was greatly increased with greed as did the social decadence. The plot tells you a lot in this movie.

  5. In Dawn of the Dead the mall represents what is left of society. The refugees have to face the issue of abandoning the mall or trying to escape. The theme is that the end is near.

i think a big issue in the movie was man for him self and not thinking of any one else at the fact that one group of people were trying to fight and keep each other safe and alive but then there was another group that was just killing anyone dead or alive at the fact that they just wanted to get money and other none needed materials

  8. I think that this movie is a reference to assisted suicide because in the final scene Peter was about to give up and just kill himself. I think that the zombies are a refernce to the Doctors or the people in general that administer drugs to people or help them kill themselves. Also the movie could be a reference to the "every-man-for-themself" theory becasue in the scene were the bikers came in and tried to take over the mall so that they can get all of the stuff that they needed to get to survive when the Zombies pretty much took over the world.

  9. in dawn of the dead, the movie p0rtrays how pe0ple are more w0rried about their appearance more than h0w twisted s0ciety is . iBelieve the mall was a perfect setting ! also, the rivalry that occured with the 2 different gr0ups of pe0le in the mall shows how the public interacts with people, or it could be referred back to racism !
