Night of the Living Dead
What are your theories about NLD so far? What do the zombies represent? What do you think the movie is saying about society?

I think that NLD is showing us a human vs human type thing or human vs alien thing.I also think this movie is saying that us humans are trapped in this world no matter how horrible things get here on earth, like in the movie where the people were trapped in da house..

I've come to terms with the fact that NLD is portraying society as the choas is was during 1968. Relating to assasinations, Apollo 8, Vietnam War, etc. Society was not civil and neither were the zombies.

In NLD the zombies create fear this allows the characters to form a community inside the farmhouse which is based off of fear.

ReplyDeleteI think the movie represented the assination of MLK and the objectives he was trying to accomplish with America.
I believe that the zombies represent the riots throughout the world and the survivors represent how we as Americans during these times couldn't come together as one. We were segregated and couldn't agree on something. But overall the movie states that as a society we cannot communicate as one whole... Instead most of us think as indiviuals.

I think the part with Cooper and Ben arguing shows how differnt we all are. Barbra is stupid and makes us Women look bad by being a scary little girl by not wanting to help Ben....to be Continued...

ReplyDeleteI think the movie NLD represented the assassination of MLK and the objectives he was trying to accomplish with the US. They both tried to help people. One tried to help over come racism the other tried to help stay alive. Both had people that thought they were doing the right thing but only made it harder. The two black men were similar in many ways.
I think that this movie is showing us the way women were in those times. They wouldn't really do anything just cause more panic and have the men worry about more things at the point in time.

The ghouls could represent the army control and the power they have with the draft, forcing people to change against their wishes.
The night of the living dead was representing the assassination of MLK and the zombies were all the issues that he was going through. i think that the movie is say that socity is blinded at the fact that they killed ben at the end and thought he was a zombie.

ReplyDeletei think that the NLD shows, that when chaos hits the communtity people come from different backgrounds to help each other out. Some useless, some dunmb founded, but still come together.
ReplyDeleteI think that the theme of the movie NLD is to show that the American government makes a lot of mistakes and they try to cover them up once the media gets a hold of the story. As far as the zombies go, I think that they are a metaphor for Napalm from the vietnam war because the Napalm and the Zombies both eat away at your flesh. All in all I think that the movie was a representation of how currupt the government was at that time. For instance, that girl (I think her name was Gloria) had a brother that was supposed to protect her turn into a Zombie and end up eating her. That is similar to how in the US the police are supposed to serve and protect the people but they end up hurting us all the time. (Rodney King for instance). On the other hand. The scene where the dudes daughter turned into a Zombie and ate him after he was trying to protect her after she got bit by the Zombie might be analogous to how we the people sometimes turn on the government and hurt the government (EXAMPLE: Criminals).

within a small community without some sort of order there is loss of general humanity. people will end up thinking for their well being and NLD show this. this is my theory.
